Biography

Rachael Agnew (b.1982) is currently living and working in Dublin.

Rachael's practice as art research explores the fundamental ontology of interstitial spaces through phenomenology in the form of site-specific drawing installations, interventions and events. She is a co-founder of 'Drawing DeCentred' (formed - 2016), an artist-led collective and platform for exploring contemporary drawing. www.drawingdecentred.com

Most recent events include:

'Drawing as Interruption', a response by Drawing DeCentred (artist-led collective and platform for exploring contemporary drawing) to the theme 'Drawing as Interruption' resulting in artworks that used diverse drawing approaches which challenged and questioned the meaning of interruption. The first launch was held at the Model, Co.Sligo, March 2018. The second public outing was shown at Independent Studios, June 2018.

'Elevate' 12.12.2017, a global day of performances, interventions, and think pieces in elevators across the world. Her performance took place with artists Ann-Marie Curran and Frances Mezzetti at the Gallery of Photography, Dublin, Ireland. www.elevate1.org

Rachael's artworks have been shown at The Lab (Co. Dublin), The Dock (Co.Leitrim), Custom House Studios and Gallery (Co.Mayo), Moxie Studios (Co.Dublin), Ballina Arts Centre (Co.Mayo), Signal Arts Centre (Co.Wicklow) and University College Cork (Co.Cork).
